Our business has transitioned to provide online workshops as well as our traditional face-to-face workshops in our studio. The same tutors with the same care and passion will come through to a device at your place!

Our workshops cater for beginners right through to more advanced makers. Workshops are taught by enthusiastic, talented tutors who have a real heart for their craft and a passion for teaching. Class sizes are kept small so that everyone receives individual attention and no one get “lost in the crowd”.

“Wow – thank you. I didn’t have any faith in my own ability but with your wonderful patience and guidance, I am so happy with how it (my ottoman) has come together. I am still on a high!”

Online Tutorials

Life is not how it used to be! As a business that strongly endorses human connection and the value of making, we have been highly motivated to “fill the gap” to include online tutorials.
You are invited to join us……..from the comfort of your own home, let your hands play and your heart sing!!
Key features of our online tutorials are:
  • Numbers will be kept small to help maintain a good sense of connection and so that everyone receives individual attention while learning new skills.
  • You will be able to access a recording of the session for review later
  • Some will even provide a voucher to value of the tutorial

This is what people are saying

I participated in my first online lampshade workshop with Julie and it was just like being with her in person.

I knew from previous experience that Julie is a superb teacher and I wasn’t sure how it would translate in an online environment where she couldn’t see my progress in as much detail.

The instructions had been sent through in advance, so I could refer to them when needed, but it wasn’t necessary at all as I could clearly see Julie demonstrating and ask questions as needed.  When I needed support I held the lampshade closer to the camera and she made appropriate suggestions.

I’d highly recommend an online workshop with Ministry of Handmade as it’s so easy to do from your own home.

I will definitely be doing more in the future.  The only thing missing was Maurice’s delicious morning tea.

I completed an Online Lampshade class with Julie and 3 other ladies on Sunday afternoon.  Julie and Maurice could not have made it easier in collecting the hardware, it was all prepared in a bag for me just to collect.  They have a great range of fabrics on hand to choose from also.

The instructions were clear in regard to downloading the IT platform. I pre read all the notes and prepared everything before hand.  This did help me throughout the course as it helped me understand the basics on creating a lampshade.

Between watching Julie online and reading the notes it was extremely easy to follow.  Any and all questions were answered and you didn’t feel rushed at any point.

The lampshade was a success and now I have no hesitation in creating one on my own. I would definitely recommend the courses that Julie and Maurice from Ministry of Handmade offer.

Private Events

“My baby shower was one of the most memorable afternoons I’ve had. We created a beautiful cot quilt that I will cherish forever. The memories we made and the love that was sewn into it makes it a ‘must grab in case of fire’ item.
