Learn how to create your very own tapered wavy lampshade with bias trim. There is no sewing involved in this workshop. This lampshade is made using our self adhesive BondLUX and is constructed using the same techniques as our regular lampshades. These shades are often referred to as Bonded lampshades as the fabric is bonded to the lampshade PVC.

In this session we’ll guide you step-by-step through the process. Your techniques and materials are industry standard materials.

In this workshop, you’ll be able to choose from three sizes:

Top diameter/bottom diameter (approx.)

• 20cm/30cm (this size included in workshop fee)
• 25cm/35cm (extra $5 payable on the day)
• 30cm/40cm (extra $10 payable on the day)

What you’ll learn:

• How to create the wavy bottom edge
• How to easily create your own bias trim
• How to apply a bias trim to the top and bottom of your shade

Choosing your size:
You can choose the size you’d like to make at the beginning of the workshop. If you already have a base you’d like to use with your new tapered wavy shade, please bring it with you so that we can help you choose the right size.

What is included:
All lampshade making materials (except fabric) and equipment and tools for making your lampshade.

What to bring:
Your lamp base (if you have one) and fabric (you can bring your own or purchase from us on the day).

Pre-requisites:
Please note: It is preferable, but not essential, to have already completed a drum or empire lampshade making session. Attention to detail is required for the best finish.

Lampshade Kits:
Tapered Wavy Lampshade Kits will be available for sale at the completion of the workshop.

How much fabric do you need?

• If using the same fabric for the shade and the bias trim, please bring 0.9m fabric
• If using a contrast bias trim to the shade, please bring 0.4m for the shade and 0.5m for the trim.

Fabric selection: Light to medium weight cotton, linen, cotton drill, polyester cotton. Fabrics with very loose weave or coarse or uneven grain or texture are not really suitable. Fabric may be purchased from Ministry of Handmade.
Please be aware that fabrics with designs that have an obvious horizontal or vertical pattern may not be suitable as the shade curves. If you have any questions about this please contact Julie create@ministryofhandmade.com.au
