Mosaic Jacket
Create your own signature jacket using the ModularME pattern.
Please note: This workshop takes two sessions, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon. If you book for this workshop you won’t be able to fit in another Saturday workshop.
Using a plain base fabric of your choice (such as denim and/or linen), add a variety of beautiful designer cottons and linens to sew a stunning one-off jacket that suits your personality and preferences. A bit like “a coat of many colours”, this garment will be a treasured signature piece that you’ll be able to team with pants, jeans, skirts, T-shirts or dresses for years to come!

What’s provided: - A selection of designer linens and cottons (both plain and printed) to combine with your own fabrics to give your jacket a designer edge!
- Jacket pattern
- Use of an overlocker
What you will learn:
- Some basic colour theory
- Creative ideas for combining different printed fabrics
- Colour blocking ideas
- How to add embellishments like embroidery, braid, etc
- How to add a lining if desired
What to bring:
- Your own sewing machine
- Sewing notions – scissors, pins, tape measure, ruler, tailors chalk or pencil,
- Optional – Rotary cutter, cutting mat and quilting ruler if you used to using these tools and would prefer to trim fabric this way rather than with scissors
- Fabric – These requirements will be forwarded to you well ahead of the session so that you can get prepared
- Thread
Skill required:
- Must be competent on a sewing machine and have some experience cutting out fabric.
- This is not a “learn to sew class” and is definitely not suitable for beginners.
What you get to take home:
As everyone will move at a slightly different pace, it is a little difficult to gauge how far we’ll progress in the seven hours allocated.
Our aim is that everyone will have all their fabric cut and positioned and sewn so that they can see how beautiful their jacket will look when finished. Assembly of the jacket and finishing detailing may need to be done at home. Written instructions will be provided for this.
