Dash of Lime

An award-winning Brisbane-based artist, Debra is famous for her bright, colourful and loving cityscapes that celebrate the unique Queenslander architecture. Working as an artist for 30 years, Debra’s work is in art collections all over the world.

Known for her bright, confetti dots and loving attention to detail, Debra captures beautifully the vibe of Brisbane’s older streetscapes.

now and her art panels have featured on many Hero and Rocket lamps. We are now super excited to offer some new paintings in different formats at this workshop.

You’ll be able to make your own Debra Hood lampshade!

The registration fee secures your place and includes your tuition and Debra Hood Art Panel. Other material costs are payable on the day and will vary depending on your choice of shade or lamp.

  • Drum Shades – add your own base:
    • From the Verandah – 30cm diameter x 24cm H – Suits a small to medium table lamp (no extra charge)
    • From the Verandah – 35cm diameter x 26cm H – Suits a medium table lamp ($5 extra)
    • Violet Blush – 38cm diameter x 26cm H – Suits a medium to large table lamp ($10 extra)
    • Violet Blush – 43cm diameter x 32cm H – Suits a floor lamp, a large table lamp or a pendant ($20 extra)

* Hero and Rocket Lamps are handcrafted in Brisbane. Just add a light bulb and they are ready to go. The Birch Ply can by waxed or stained to suit .

Morning tea will be provided.

What you’ll learn:

  • Professional lampshade making techniques

  • Fabric scissors (if you have some)

Our workshop cancellation policy?

If you register for a workshop and later you need to cancel your attendance then different refunds occur depending on how much notice we are given and on the facilitator for the workshop. The following refunds apply:

Workshops where the facilitator is Julie Hillier or Maurice Hillier - 

  • 8 days or more before the scheduled workshop time - we will refund 100% of the workshop fee
  • 2-7 days before the scheduled workshop time - we will refund 50% of the workshop fee or if you prefer, a voucher to the value of 50% of the workshop fee
  • Within 1 day before the scheduled workshop time - sorry, no refund

Other workshops -   

  • Sorry, no refund.

Should Ministry of Handmade cancel a workshop - 

If, for any reason, Ministry of Handmade has to cancel a workshop we will offer you a choice of:

  • full refund
  • a voucher to the value of the workshop
  • a transfer to the same workshop being held at another time

Events

Events are defined as the programs and workshops that are not single workshops held at our studio in Bridgeman Downs. For example: Makers Escape is an event. Our refund policy and cancellation policy will vary from event to event and will be explained on the page containing the registration form for the particular event.

Please note - if you have to cancel - communication is the key - please let us know as soon as possible of your circumstances and your intentions.

What forms of payment do you accept?

When registering for a workshop you will be taken to a payment page - we use PayPal. PayPal allows you to pay using your own PayPal account or (if you don't have an account) you can pay using your credit card or your debit card. When you get to the payment page - it will look like this:
