Learn how to create this timeless shade that proves that romance is still well and truly alive.
Soft flowing lines, elegant parasol silhouette, a maximalist vibe with a dash of whimsy! The Ballerina Shade evokes all the joy of a girl twirling in a fabulous dress with a full skirt. You can create a shade that truly matches your personality – bold and edgy, soft and chintzy, 
elegant and classic.
Introducing the Ballerina shade in four styles:
- Small pendants
- Large pendant
- Floor lamp
- Table lamp
Please note: There is both a small amount of machine sewing (straight seams only) and some hand sewing involved in this workshop. This lampshade is constructed over a rigid lampshade frame using an outer layer of fabric and a fabric lining. 
These types of shades are often referred to as soft lampshades as the fabric is not bonded to lampshade PVC.
In this session we’ll guide you step-by-step through the process. There will be a combination of traditional and modern techniques.
What you’ll learn:
- How to cut, stitch and attach your outer fabric
- How to cut, stitch and attach the lining
- How to cut, fold and attach bias trims
- How to attach purchased trims and fringing (if desired)

- Wire frame – Table lamp or small pendant size (included in registration fee) or, Floor Lamp or large pendant size (an extra $25.00)

What you’ll take home:
We will aim to complete your lampshade by the end of the session. All steps will be demonstrated in the workshop and any work left to be completed at home will be simple and manageable. And don’t forget, there is a set of notes!

You may purchase fabric and trims from Ministry of Handmade on the day if you wish or make a time to visit and select your needs before the workshop date.
Sizes of shades:
- Table Lamp or small pendant size – approximate diameters 15cm top ring, 45cm bottom ring and the height is 20cm tall.
- Floor Lamp size or large pendant size – approximate diameters 20cm top ring, 70cm bottom ring and the height is 30cm tall.
Lampshade Kits:
Ballerina Lampshade Kits will be available for sale in limited quantities at the completion of the workshop.
