Slow.

My early mornings and late afternoons over the last week have been spent in the garden. Slowly and by hand I have removed hundreds of rocks from the edges of our driveway so that I could clean out years of rotten leaves and flowers from the rows of Ivory Curl Flower trees that flank the drive. I love this meditative activity and the way it reinvigorates our original landscaping plan that was inspired by the beautiful grounds of the Hyatt Coolum 25 years ago.

I love the mass plantings of only a few species, the radiating rows of bricks that intersect the slabs of exposed aggregate concrete to create beautiful oblique lines and the soothing mottled tones of the gravel. I love the simple unfussy lines of the front garden like I love the simple lines of a well designed frock!!!
