It’s a bit like stained glass!!!
I have made a start on machine embroidering a table runner this morning. As part of adding some finishing touches to our living room makeover, I wanted to make a table runner for our 8 seater walnut-toned dining table. I was keen to lighten up the top of the table as it is a lot of walnut!!!! This piece of black and white cotton canvas has been in my stash for a year or so. I bought it originally to make cushions and had always intended embroidering it in some way.
The beautiful water colour by Brisbane artist Robyn Bauer is my colour inspiration for the thread selection…the painting will be framed in a charcoal coloured frame and hung next to the table. To make the little coloured panels (that remind me of stained glass) I have put two reels of matching thread on the machine and stitched a really tight zigzag stitch. I’ll pull all the threads ends through to the back and tie them off so they are secure.
Thinking I’ll also add in some deep pink here and there as well. I’ll work my way across the length of the runner randomly adding little bits of colour here and there until I am happy with the finished result.
