As they say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day!” We have slowly, but by bit, been reinventing our living room since April last year. We are nearly there; the big jobs are done (painting and furniture reupholstery) and it is just the small finishing touches left to do. I am working with a colour scheme that is grounded by black. (I picked up this tip from Anna Spiro’s comments in House and Garden mag a few years ago.)
Today it was time for a new lampshade on this vintage base I picked up in an op shop for $10.00. (I didn’t buy the base when I first saw it but it haunted me overnight and I rang the store first thing the next morning to get them to hold it for me!!) Two of the accent colours in the room are teal and the often hard to name colour of my three monkey ? friends. I love these little guys bought at half price in a Boxing Day sale several years ago. Anyways, back to the lampshade… this new shade adds a different energy to the previous shade and coordinates beautifully with several other elements in the room. I made the shade using cotton drill from my stash and was purchased originally from Spotlight.
