Mexican feast preparations!!
For me, making and creating is not just something I do, it is a mind-set. I love to bring a touch of handmade to everything I do. I also like to be resourceful and approach everything with a sustainability focus, using what I have at hand. Last night we had a family get-together, the first one in years that my whole side of the family was able to attend.
We thought a big Mexican cook-up would be fun and it was! My mind goes… how do you decorate a table for 20 simply, quickly and for minimal spend? Here is my solution with a little help from Pinterest!! White tablecloths (already had those), bright table runners (already had those but could have used strips of fabric from my stash if necessary), clustered succulents from my garden potted up quickly into whatever I could lay my hands on, fresh flowers ? for small glass jars ($15 from the local shop), empty Mexican bean tins ($12 but we get to eat the beans!). Some cheap Mexican themed bunting from a “cheap” shop ($4) completed the scene and we were done.
We divided up the menu and what a great night we had, including celebrating my mum’s 85th birthday and playing table tennis.
