Romance was in the air that night!
Take a 112-year-old heritage-listed Village Hall in autumn, then light it completely with candles! What a setting for a wedding party!
My daughter, Lauren, and her fiance, Josh, had a very clear vision for their wedding in May 2011….relaxed, vintage, handmade. Part of their vision was for an evening celebration lit completely by candles.
So we set about making chandeliers! We used over-sized tea-light candles (9 hour rated so that they would last the distance) in Ikea drinking glasses hung in plywood frames. The frames were suspended from steel cables using heavy jute twine. We made 14 chandeliers in total each with seven tea-lights.
When the guests entered the hall, their overwhelming reaction to the romance and magic in the air made all the effort worthwhile!
