A collaborative project for Handmade-44the new baby girl!

Yesterday the Ministry of Handmade was full of the sounds of laughter, stories, singing and good friends sharing a fun experience. It was a privilege to host a baby shower for Liss Gray who is expecting her first baby in five weeks. Orchestrated by Liss’s sister, Laura, a group of close friends contributed a selection of fabrics in the colour scheme of aqua and pink and came to make the quilt as a team.

After a brief explanation of the process involved in making a quilt, it was out with the cutting mats, rotary cutters and rulers to cut the patches. Everyone was involved – cutting, sewing, ironing and having a say in how the squares should be positioned.

With the piecing finished, it is just a matter now of sandwiching the batting and the backing and then quilting the layers together. Liss has decided to do this by hand herself…Yay!! It will look awesome and what a beautiful gift for a new baby girl in a few weeks’ time.
