I had fun making this one between Christmas and New Year! I have wanted to make a vintage inspired frock for a while now so grabbed a pattern, pulled out some fabric from my stash and got sewing. It is very simple in style…just a fitted bodice with short sleeves and wide round neck, and a pleated skirt. The neckline, sleeve edges and hemline are all finished in bias made from the same fabric. There is a centre back seam.
I must admit that I also had an ulterior motive. I wanted to test a basic vintage pattern style to see if it was suitable for a sewing class. Several people have expressed an interest in a vintage frock workshop …. So watch this space!!!!
The first time I wore this was when I went to see the musical “South Pacific” last week, so I felt right at home with all the beautiful 1940s costumes in the show.
