Square quiltPatches shooting the breeze

I made this colourful quilt last year. It lives on the end of our our bed on top of a white cotton coverlet.

The patches were stitched together by machine, but the quilting was done by hand using cream quilting cotton. The batting is two layers of  cotton sheeting and the backing is a layer of cotton sheeting. The hand quilting goes through all layers.

Tip: Finding space to spread out a quilt as you work on it can be tricky. I use a folding table tennis table that my children have outgrown. It is one of those models with little wheels. I roll it out of the garage into the family room whenever I need it!
