Our workshops cater for beginners right through to more advanced makers. Workshops are taught by enthusiastic, talented tutors who have a real heart for their craft and a passion for teaching. Class sizes are kept small so that everyone receives individual attention and no one get “lost in the crowd”.
Creativity requires energy so we always include a break where home-baked goodies are served, usually on the tree-top verandah.
Most of our workshops are held in our Brisbane studio, however, we love getting out on the road and meeting makers in other locations … spreading the joy of handmade, teaching skills and building confidence.
“Wow – thank you. I didn’t have any faith in my own ability but with your wonderful patience and guidance, I am so happy with how it (my ottoman) has come together. I am still on a high!”
We love teaching one-on-one in private lessons. Private lessons may be the right option for you if…..
- you are not able to make our workshop dates work for you
- working in a group is not your style
- you have a specific type of project
- you are keen to get a project finished on a timeline
- Reupholstering a blanket box
- Making lampshades
- Stitching cushion covers
- Covering ottomans
- Starting a quilt
- Learning the basics of sewing
- Mastering zips
- Recovering dining room chairs
“Loved my private lesson with Julie today. I learnt new skills to take onto my next projects, and brushed up on skills I had learnt years ago. Can’t wait to do my next lessons with Ministry of Handmade.”
“My baby shower was one of the most memorable afternoons I’ve had. We created a beautiful cot quilt that I will cherish forever. The memories we made and the love that was sewn into it makes it a ‘must grab in case of fire’ item.”
Get your friends together to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, bridal shower, baby shower or just to hang out together and have fun.
Private events give you the flexibility to select a date and project that suits you either from our range of workshops or an idea of your own.
Please contact us to discuss your options.
We can host your private event at our Brisbane studio, or if you are outside Brisbane and have a suitable space we can come to you.
