Makers Escape Montville
Friday 18 – Sunday 20 May 2018
Let your hands play! Let your heart sing!
SOLD OUT for 2018
The demand for places was so high that the web server crashed! We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the response. So after a night of frustration, perseverance and dogged determination a bunch of fearless makers managed to secure their spots at the weekend event.
Thank you, thank you for your enthusiasm and patience.
Imagine an event where you can leave behind the cares of your everyday for a long weekend and nurture your creative spirit . . . where you can celebrate slow, immerse yourself in making, learn new skills, enjoy great food and make new friends . . . that is Makers Escape Montville.
Our three-day creative workshop retreat will feature a wide range of exciting handmade workshops run by talented and passionate tutors with a heart for sharing their craft.
Nestled in a rainforest environment on the top of the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, the village of Montville is a 90 minute drive from Brisbane CBD.
We are using three workshop venues for Makers Escape Montville; the heritage-listed Montville Village Hall built in 1903 and the adjacent St Mary’s Church Hall both on the picturesque Montville Village Green and a room we call the Skydeck at Altitude on Montville.

The Workshop Program
We have put together a wide range of workshops for you. There are five workshop sessions and in each session there is a choice of six workshops including working independently on your own project. You will be given the opportunity to provide three preferences for each workshop session.
Makers Escape is an all inclusive event which offers workshops as part of a creative weekend away. Please note that we are unable to offer guaranteed places in any particular workshop. Registering for Makers Escape means you are happy to accept any of your workshop preferences.
Our accommodation this year is at the all new apartment hotel Altitude on Montville. With a variety of options, your room will be walking distance from the workshop venues. This is wonderful news because you can park your car on your arrival and not touch it again till it is time to leave on Sunday! The hotel also has panoramic views of the Sunshine Coast. We have booked the whole venue for our exclusive use!
Also this year, there will be a few rooms available if you have a partner who wishes to have a week-end away with you but not attend the workshops.
Alternatively, you have the option of choosing your own accommodation or staying with friends or family in the local area.
Cost of Makers Escape
The cost is made up of two components:
- The Workshop Program (all workshops, all meals, all activities) for $849*.
- Accommodation (prices for a variety of accommodation options are shown on the Accommodation page).
* A reduction of $50 per session is given for each session that you choose to work on your own project.
